Simos Georgopoulos is a freelance wine writer as well as wine and gastronomy critic since 1999. He has worked for the major consumer magazines and newspapers in Greece such as E-Gourmet of Eleftherotipia Newspaper, Ef Zein, Umami and Status.
Ηe is now member of the editorial board of Oinohoos, Foodie, Vima Gourmet and Andro.gr.
He has worked as consulting Sommelier in the Michelin Awarded restaurants Spondi and Hytra, during that period Spondi has won the Awards for the best wine list in Greece in both the E-Gourmet and Athinorama competitions.
He has also worked as a Jury Member in the E- Gourmet Awards.
For more than 15 years he is organizing wine tastings and courses and he has participated in various international wine competitions as a judge.
He is an instructor at the Genius in Gastronomy school of sommelier and he is giving lectures in the post graduate degree of Oenological Department at the Agricultural University of Athens.
He is the writer of the bilingual wine guides, "Only the Best" (Axon, 2000) and "A Wine Glass Full of Greece" (Papasotiriou 2009).
